About
I am licensed in Texas with 27 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, coping with addictions, trauma and abuse as well as coping with grief and loss. I work with individuals, families, and couples to repair trust, improve communication, and strengthen their emotional intimacy and relationships.
I place a strong emphasis on collaborative care for my clients. By working closely with medication management teams, parents, teachers, dietitians, and healthcare providers. I ensure that my clients receive comprehensive support from their community throughout their treatment journey.
I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches. My primary counseling approach is direct with training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT); however, I also utilize other approaches like solution-focused therapy to meet the specific needs of my clients as well.
At the heart of my practice is a commitment to creating a warm and accepting environment. I achieve this by using humor and meeting my clients where they are, enabling them to feel comfortable discussing their concerns and therapy goals.
I have experience working with individuals across various treatment settings, including inpatient, Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient, and outpatient.
Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am proud of you for getting started!
Thank you for your time,
Debra Ellis, MA, LPC, LBSW
