Debra is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of NY who has been practicing for the last 15 years. Her experience is varied, having worked with adults with serious mental illnesses in a clinic setting, children in foster care, and in private practice. Debra’s previous and current endeavors include providing clinical supervision for Social Workers, as well as for Social Work interns through their Master’s degree programs. Debra’s approach is client centered, with the belief that by building a therapeutic alliance together with the therapist, the client will become better equipped to overcome personal obstacles or manage emotions. She utilizes various modalities in treatment, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Behavioral Activation, Problem Solving, and also some Psychodynamic work (depending on the client’s needs, personality and comfort). She specializes in life transitions, caregiver stress, anxiety, and depression. Having completed her course of study to become a Reiki Master, Debra also incorporates mindfulness techniques in her sessions, particularly when treating anxiety. Her approach is warm and empathic, striving for clients to feel at ease in a non-judgmental atmosphere.
