Hello, my name is David Squire and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 36 years experience helping people sort through and resolve challenges affecting their body, nervous system, mind, emotions, self-image, relationships and work. My approach to therapy is one that understands we all need help working through situations or issues that are too difficult to solve alone until we get the help we need. I take into account the person and their interactions with their environment. My approach The therapeutic approaches I use are also based on each client's unique needs and therapeutic goals. In general, I use a mixture of therapies and approaches. Because I have seen the following approaches work so powerfully and effectively, I primarily use Somatic Experiencing Therapy and Polyvagal Theory to help resolve incomplete arousal cycles in the body that can contribute to physical, emotional and relational difficulties; Family Systems Therapy to help people examine and understand family dynamics and relationships that explain the relationship we have with ourselves and others; and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) that examines how emotions are connected to needs (e.g., feelings when needs are met and feelings when needs go unmet). Additionally, I also use Humanistic Therapy approaches that emphasize personal growth, self-awareness and our own definition of personal success and Interpersonal Therapy to improve interpersonal relationships and communication patterns. My focus I have had good success working with children, adolescents and adults. My experience covers a broad range of difficulties that range from problems with self-esteem, sleep, emotional regulation, judging self harshly and trauma, among others. My communication style The environment I work to create for my sessions with clients is one where they feel safe, accepted, understood, respected, supported, encouraged, empowered and gently challenged in a way that works for them.
