About

My name is David Patterson.
I have had the honor of serving individuals, families, and specialized groups for over 30 years. I hold a BA in Social Work and a Masters degree in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma. I take great pride in being an Adjunct Professor at the University of Oklahoma providing education and training to future therapists. I have worked with an extremely diverse population over the years and welcome all areas of concerns within the scope of my experience and training.
I have extensive training and practice in Mindfulness Based approaches including meditation, breath work, yoga, and the mind body connection. We will work closely together in an effort to explore and exhaust all therapeutic means that will enhance the quality of your life.
I believe that the therapeutic process is a joint effort between me and my clients. Recovering from mental health, substance abuse, trauma and life in general requires hard work and dedication. If you choose to work with me please understand that you are the author of your life and I am here to guide, encourage, and support you through the journey together. Taking part in your own recovery is the only way that positive change can arise. If you choose me as your therapist, I ask that you do not just change therapists on me without at least processing the issues that concern you. A big part of the healing process is learning best ways to resolve differences or clear up misunderstandings. This presents the perfect opportunity to practice healthy communication skills.
I do not take it personal if we decide a change is needed.
