Hi, I’m David a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor in Virginia. Previously, I was instrumental in the development/launching of two Celebrate Recovery Ministries and I have served in various leadership capacities within the organization. After a lengthy career in sales, I finished my educational requirements and was employed for six years with Centra Health in Lynchburg. My service included time at Bridges Residential Treatment Center and Krise 6 Acute Psychiatry for adolescents as well as the Mundy 3 Acute Psychiatry Unit for adults. I most recently served as Lead Mental Health Professional at Virginia Baptist Hospital and Pathways Recovery Lodge in Amherst, VA. I am currently in private practice at Advanced Psychotherapeutics in Forest, VA where I specialize in Substance Abuse, Trauma and Co-Occurring Disorders.

One of my most notable quotes is “If getting sober is tough, staying sober is even harder”. I practice from a research based perspective that validates the efficacy of addiction counseling. Co-Occurring disorders are statistically prevalent with SA and require personalized treatment planning. Peer Support continues to grow and should be incorporated within most cases. David practices primarily from a Cognitive Behavioral perspective. Although thought processing can be altered over time, behavioral changes can typically be introduced with vastly positive results. I challenge my clients with behavior modification techniques that facilitate habit change to bypass the additional damaging effects of continued Substance Abuse.
