Hey there! My name is Darlene Riveron and I am a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern in Florida, a therapist on a mission to help you take control of your life. I was born and raised in Miami, FL and I'm a proud Latina (Cuban & Salvadorean). I am fluent in English and Spanish and what we call in Miami: Spanglish. I am a proud Frenchie dog momma and I enjoy traveling and learning about different cultures in my free time. I attended Nova Southeastern University (Go Sharks!) where I graduated with my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2021. I have worked in various settings including schools, classrooms, substance abuse clinics, community mental health centers, and private practice. I have experience with traditional in-person therapy, group therapy, and virtual therapy. Before I was a therapist, I was a Registered Behavior Therapist specializing in Autism Spectrum Disorder and crisis behavior management. As an RBT, I witnessed many of the challenges these children face when engaging in everyday activities such as completing school work, personal grooming, and socializing with peers. This job ignited my passion for going back to school to fulfill my dream of becoming a therapist. My love for this career began when I was younger as I always enjoyed helping and listening to others but it developed when I had my own experience in therapy. As a teen and throughout young adulthood, I suffered from anxiety, depression, and trauma that affected me in more ways than I could have ever imagined. Through my own experience in therapy, I was able to learn strategies and coping techniques to heal, foster healthier relationships, and improve my self-esteem. This positive experience in therapy inspired me to do this for other people experiencing similar struggles.
