About
Hi, my name is Danielle Norman. I have a Doctorate in Psychology and a License in Marriage and Family Therapy. My specialties include childhood trauma/trauma, depression, anxiety, attachment, and parent-child relationships. My approach Although I would consider myself an eclectic therapist; using a variety of therapeutic approaches. I rely heavily on cognitive behavioral and attachment theories. My focus Currently, my practice focuses on working with adults and adolescents. Clients can present with a number of issues including difficulty in relationships, feeling stuck, low and anxious mood, difficulty coping with stressors, feeling on edge or irritable, and difficulty with sleep. My communication style It is of the utmost priority that our sessions feel conversational. Starting and continuing therapy can feel serious and many times it is, however, the process does not always need to be. My goal is for my clients to feel heard and seen while creating a safe place to challenge themselves to grow into the person they ultimately want to be. My journey to mental healthcare My introduction to mental health and psychology really began with an internship in 2009. There, I was introduced to Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). It affirmed that early childhood experiences have a great impact on your trajectory. I have seen first-hand how small shifts can have lasting positive effects. It's the small changes that make the biggest differences in the long run, I hope to continue to inspire others to make those small positive shifts. My goals for you Following the initial assessment of presenting issues/symptoms, we will continue to discuss what brought you to therapy and what you hope to accomplish during our time together both short-term and long-term. As therapy progresses, goals often change, and there may be times when goals need to be re-evaluated, this will also be a collaborative process. My first session with you The first session can feel somewhat 'clinical'.
