About

Hello, my name is Dan Lindenfeld and I'm looking forward to working with you! I have been providing professional counseling services for six years. Prior to becoming a counselor I served as a Noncommissioned Officer in the United States Army and Army Reserve and retired with 25 years of military service. In my professional experiences as a counselor I have specialized in working with men who have had or acted on harmful sexual thoughts, at risk adolescents with histories of trauma, neglect, and difficulties with anger or impulse control and relationships. I have also worked in private practice with individual clients and families presenting with depression, anxiety, impulse control, anger management and problems with communication.

I use an eclectic approach to counseling that includes cognitive behavioral, humanistic, narrative and strengths based approaches to counseling. Much of what I do is based on the principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and the idea that the language that we use with ourselves and with others can be used to confront the obstacles that we face in life, or alternatively can make those obstacles more difficult to overcome.

I am a lover of classic rock, Monty Python and other irreverent humor, my pets, and a wide variety of movies and shows. I love to travel and experience different cultures, and feel that my experiences in the Army have helped me learn more about the perspectives of people and families from other cultures. I look forward to working with and learning from you as we embark on life's journey!
