About

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a MS. Degree in Counseling Psychology and a master’s level Gerontology Certification. I have a variety of clinical experiences consisting of working with teens, adults, and LBGTQT+ clients experiencing mental health symptoms and life challenges. I have worked with a variety of mental health concerns, including mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, bereavement, compassion fatigue, adjustment disorders, depression, concerns associated with self-identity and family/relationship issues. I view counseling from the perspective that all clients can work on desired treatment goals through therapy which involves fostering client strengths and developing new areas for growth. I believe in respectfully and professionally challenging clients to work outside of their comfort zones to continue their journey to improve overall well-being and life satisfaction. In this therapeutic process, I too join clients on this journey as a collaborative team, challenging unhealthy thought processes while setting and working towards counseling goals. Although I frequently provide some directions based on my specialized expertise, my intent is that clients can explore their personal therapy needs and experience challenges to guide and formulate new perspectives and develop new coping skills. I also have a keen awareness that life is a journey consisting of many components that and are both within and outside of our control such as family dynamics, work environments, spiritual and cultural components that impact life and thus have a metaphorical imprint on our view of self. I view counseling from a person-centered approach; however, I am eclectic in my knowledge base so that I can best adapt to the needs of each individual client and couple. Frequently, during your therapeutic journey, I will utilize the following therapeutic approaches: Solution-Focused therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy.
