Welcome! My name is Cindy Vandamme, MA, LPC. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Michigan. I have worked as a mental health professional for the past 25 years. Most of my experience is from working in higher education and the Worker’s Compensation system in the State of Michigan. I work from the personal and professional philosophy that people have the capacity to change. That each one of us comes from a successful past and are experts in our own lives. That sometimes we lose the ability to believe in ourselves and we need someone to guide us back to our better selves. That by seeking out help, we have hope for a better future. I believe that any time someone reaches out for help is the right time and enough time to do some good work. I believe that hope is not just a feeling but a state of mind.

While I have experience using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy, I mostly utilize Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). In SFBT, counselors ask you more questions about where you want to go, in-spite of what happened in your past. I believe that your past does not define who you are in the present or who you can be in the future. I believe that hope is always present, even when it looks like all of the good stuff is gone. When there is a fire, and a forest burns down. The roots are still there. They are just waiting to be watered and sparked into life again. My goal is to help you to create change in your life by changing how you think about your future. I look forward to working with you.
