About
Are you feeling stuck, unhappy, or frustrated, having a hard time creating the life you want? I can work with you to figure out what's getting in your way and how to address it. I love getting to know people and helping them build their lives. My approach I'm experienced and skilled in providing therapy, mixing different styles or modalities. We can examine any thoughts and habits that might be unhelpful (CBT orientation), practice mindfulness and learn ways to improve how you handle emotions and relationships (DBT), find meaning in difficult times and events (existential), and look at your past to identify what from your history is affecting you now (psychoanalysis/insight-oriented), all while recognizing that the context in which we all live includes discrimination and inequity (systems approach). Then we can figure out ways to help you feel better now, while also working to create the change you want to see in yourself and your life longer-term. My focus I work with adults of all ages and genders, and specialize in working with young adult women who are dealing with life changes, stress, relationship issues, anxiety and depression. Being first-generation LatinX, I can understand and relate to issues around culture, race, discrimination and bias, assimilation and acculturation. My communication style My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable and safe talking about anything. I think my clients do tend to feel that sense of comfort and support. I'm "real" and speak with thoughtfulness, kindness, and candor. My journey to therapy I've always wanted to help people. I've worked in nonprofits, doing peace and justice work, and more before landing here, in this role that I love. My goals for you To set goals, we talk about what brings a client here now, the symptoms and behaviors, and what you hope to get out of therapy. Then we collaborate to create goals and objectives to help you get there and that help us measure your progress over time.
