About

Hi, my name is Cynthia Harris. I’ve been an LCSW since 1986 and currently provide Teletherapy in the State of California. I’m dedicated to providing culturally responsive and identity-affirming therapies to men and women. My approach My theoretical approach is primarily Eclectic. But Psychodynamic and solution-focused methodologies are effective along with Psychoeducation, Cognitive Behavioral, and Mindfulness. My focus I work with adults/LGBT/BIPOC challenged by Grief and Loss, Depression, Addiction, Workplace Harassment, Life’s Transitions, ADD, Codependency, and Lifestyle choices. My communication style My communication style is gentle, compassionate, encouraging, assertive, and non-judgmental. My journey to therapy My journey to becoming a therapist started after I moved to San Francisco and volunteered to be on a Suicide hotline. I was amazed at how much people appreciated the encouragement and hope they found after sharing their fears. I was good at listening and processing with clients. I am driven by a strong sense of accomplishment and pride when clients thank me over and over again. My goals for you Goal setting may be initiated by clients and becomes a collaborative process as we begin to uncover patterns in thoughts that produce unhealthy behaviors. My first session with you The first session will include introductions, questions about confidentiality, cancellation guidelines for sessions, intake/assessment, and client expectations.
