About
I am a highly experienced practitioner with 36 years of clinical experience, willing to work with more complex cases. I have a calm demeanor (California beach style) but communicate directly, with transparency and tact. My goal is assist you in developing the skills and insights to approach a vast array of situations., with a higher degree of success. I seek to provide the means to manage immediate issues, but also techniques to become more independent in facing the inevitable future challenges of life. I have a toolkit of therapeutic approaches to find what best works for you, but also extensive experience administering large behavioral health programs, to where I can support the challenges of dealing with complex systems. I can listen attentively, educate you, and at times, assist you in accessing supportive resources, you may not have known are available or that you qualify for, to develop a holistic and comprehensive plan for continued wellness. I am trained psychodynamically, which is a means to develop understanding of unconscious and subconscious motivations impacting your self-perceptions and those you have of the people in your daily life. This can be very helpful in understanding the triggers that arise out of past traumas and other experiences, for which there may be awareness. I am well versed in short term modalities that help you deal with the here and now, such as solution focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and crisis stabilization. I have extensive experience working with the victims of trauma, whether from childhood, more current events in your life or extraordinary sentinel events such as shootings, fires, personal attacks, sudden losses, and natural disasters.
