About
Hello! My name is Courtney Cavanaugh and I am the Owner and Clinical Director of Kaleidoscope Therapy Center. I have been working in the mental health field for more than 17 years, predominately with children and adolescents.
I received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Pittsburgh. In addition, I received a Master of Education in Elementary Education from California University of Pennsylvania, and a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Waynesburg University.
Prior to starting my own private practice, I worked extensively in the BHRS/ Wraparound field. After spending several years working in the field as a behavior specialist, mobile therapist, strengths-based therapist, and STAP camp director, I served as the program director.
By focusing on each individual’s potential, I try to provide a humanistic approach. I stress the importance of growth and self-actualization when working with my clients. It is my belief that people are innately good and that we are continually looking for new ways to grow, to become better, to learn new things, and to experience psychological growth and self-actualization.
During free my time, I serve as the Executive Director for the Autism Open, a nonprofit that raises money for local children and families affected by autism. Children with autism have always held a special place in my heart and they are a population I really enjoy working with.
Over the last 10 years, I have helped raise close to $400,000 for autism. The vast majority of this money has been used to help local children and families in need of items like iPads, autism service dogs, sensory swings, and medical treatments.
