About
Hi there, I'm Corliss! Corliss E. Porter, MFT California License 11926. I assist you in identifying your goals and challenges and then use individualized and focused exercises, tools, and resources that help create a healthy, balanced life. My approach includes family-systems theory, somatic (mind-body intervention), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectic behavioral therapy (DBT), trauma resolution, spiritual and positive strength-based, client-centered therapy, and more. My approach By exploring your emotional terrain with you, I will provide you with the tools, skills, and resources you need to establish new patterns that will enable you to enjoy greater fulfillment in your life. The exploration's purpose is to identify these patterns and then to create new patterns of thought, emotions, and spirit. By finding ways of connecting with your inner self, this inner healer and guide will enhance the experience. In short: I'll help you use the threads of your current and past experiences to weave a new tapestry of your life. My focus I have a varied practice and work with people from 14 years old to folks in their 80s. I work with people experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, family issues, and diagnosed mental illness to people desiring to reach new goals in life or searching for a deeper meaning. My communication style My approach is client-centered. We set a plan together and move towards your goals. I give homework to support your work during the session and to reinforce your success. My journey to mental healthcare I was influenced by my grandmother who created a highly successful residential treatment program in 1932. She created a healing environment. I believe positive mental health requires establishing a supportive environment for our growth - both internally by our relationship with ourself and externally through support habits, patterns, and relationships. I am moved by the courage and strength of my clients as they achieve their goals.
