Dr. Connie Fickenscher
 
Dr. Fickenscher is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas.  She is also an LPC Supervisor for future LPC candidates in Texas who wish pass the LPC exam, providing the needed hours to help them complete their licensure.
 
She is the mother of three married daughters and the grandmother of eight granddaughters, which includes her own set of twins and two sets of twin granddaughters.
 
Professional employment:
 
She spent ten years as a Recreation and Retreat Coordinator for a campus of 186 individuals with physical, mental, and behavioral impairments. In the early years, the client population was mainly individuals with mild, moderate, and borderline mental retardation.  In the latter years, the population moved to individuals with more profound and severe mental retardation.
 
The remainder of Dr. Fickenscher’s 35 working years involved working in higher educational settings.
 
The first ten years were spent at a university counseling center.  Dr. Fickenscher was both a personal counselor and academic advisor, which included a brief time as the director of the counseling center. During her tenure there, she worked with all students attending the university.  Counseling topics included homesickness, indecision about the future, relationship issues, Gay Lesbian Bisexual, and Transgender (GLBT) issues, Depression, Grief, Divorce, etc. She additionally worked with crisis situations involving university students.
 
During the next fifteen years, she worked at a university in North Texas. Her work experience there involved Academic Counseling for the undecided students campus-wide for ten years and then as an Academic Counselor in the Honor College for five years. It was during this time (December 2005) that Dr. Fickenscher received her PH.D. from a Texas University.
 
The most recent ten years of her professional life involved teaching as full-time faculty at an online university, offering Counseling and Human Behavior classes.  The courses were mainly grief and bereavement and diversity courses.  Additionally, Dr. Fickenscher mentored numerous doctoral dissertations.
