If you're looking for real, I have you covered! Congratulations on taking the brave dive into therapy and improving your life-- I am excited about helping you reach your goals. My identity as a therapist is very much grounded in the many years I spent in education. I often see myself as an educator when working with clients, and I believe that helping you learn concrete skills and tools in therapy are at the core of what you need to heal and take good care of yourself. When you leave each session with me, you can expect to have a take away tool that you can start using immediately to positively impact your mental health. I take a pretty direct, strengths-based approach to therapy. When working with me, you can expect to mindfully take stock of where you are now in life and collaborate on a plan with me to build skills that will help you; courageously face your anxieties, learn how to change your thinking if you find yourself in cycles of depression, work through traumas step by step, and learn boundary, assertiveness and communication skills that will help you recover from abuse. I lead with empathy, but I also make room for humor while keeping it real. I've been practicing as a counselor and therapist since 2010.
