About
Colin Cranna, LMHC BS in Psychology – Fordham University 2012 MA in Mental Health Counseling – Iona College 2017 For many, beginning therapy can be an intimidating or daunting undertaking. And reasonably so, we fear or question what we do not know or understand. The fear of opening up to a stranger or the prospect of trying to improve but failing, just a couple of common concerns, are tough obstacles to face. I’m here to convey that though the process may be challenging, the rewards and deep fulfillment one can gain from therapy make it worth the effort. I believe in taking an empathic and non-judgmental approach with all of my clients in order to establish a trusting and safe therapeutic environment. My approachable demeanor and ability to find commonalities with my clients helps facilitate an honest, collaborative therapeutic relationship. I primarily utilize principles from cognitive behavioral therapy as well as mindfulness to ensure evidence-based practice. I value and recognize each client’s unique needs, and implement a personalized approach based on their needs and goals. As a multiculturally sensitive and competent counselor I welcome the opportunity to work with individuals from various ethnic, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds. My experience and work as a counselor is wide-ranging. I’ve worked with individuals experiencing mood disorders, anxiety, relationship or communication issues, as well as young adults on the autism spectrum. I’m a dedicated, compassionate therapist who employs a client-centered approach to target, address, and mitigate each individual’s distinct set of challenges or areas of improvement. Telehealth sessions are available.
