About

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of New York. I have experience in a private practice setting as well as, Community Mental Health and Substance Abuse clinics. I have experience working with clients with Anxiety, Depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Bipolar Disorder I and II, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Bordeline Personality Disorder, Schizophrenia, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and multiple Substance Use Disorders.

I typically gain most of my clinical influence from a Person-Centered approach which allows me to develop a strong therapeutic relationship with clients. I find in utilizing this, that always trying to assess where the client is at in their life and meeting them there is the most beneficial to client success. I also like to utilize Narrative Therapy techniques to help clients with identity exploration and addressing expressed inconsistencies. I also like to utilize Gestalt Therapy techniques to aide clients in furthering the identity exploration process and roles they have taken in relationships in their lives. I have found Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to be beneficial in assisting clients with pervasive negative thought patterns and behaviors. I like to approach each session with the belief that the client is the expert in their own life, and my role is to assist them in navigating their mind and thought processes.

To ensure that I am continuing to grow as a Therapist I keep up to date with literature, have an active membership to the American Counseling Association (ACA), attend trainings and webinars frequently, and continue to seek supervision from peers as well as, supervisors. I also keep track of updates with ethical and legal guidelines.

I believe it is important to be able to provide clients with a comfortable atmosphere and different modalities and options for therapy. I believe the best way to do this is to offer a warm and Eclectic approach to each client ensuring that they understand they are safe.

I look forward to working with you!
