About
Hi there, I'm cindy! My name is Cindy Cothran and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC #13358) based in the Central Coast of California, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I presently work with older adolescents and all ages of adults. I specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, and GLBTQ-related concerns. I utilize a variety of evidence-based approaches guided by the comfort level of the person I am working with. My approach My approach will be a bit different based on the needs of the person I am working with; however, I tend to look through the lenses of attachment, somatic and mindfulness-based approaches. I am trained in a variety of techniques such as TF-CBT and EMDR for trauma, Mindfulness-Based Stress Management, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I do not believe therapy is one-size fits all and I know that we can find the best path to your happy life. My focus I find that I am comfortable working with many types of people and every age group. I enjoy working with the LGBTQIA community and I am polyamory and kink-affirming. It is my belief that therapy is a "come as you are" situation. You tell me what parts of your life are working and what parts are not working. My communication style I believe therapy should be as comfortable and collaborative as possible. I am always open to feedback and changing up approaches to help each person meet their goals yet I also hope to leave room for humor where possible. It is my hope that everyone I work with gains skills and personal insight while always feeling deeply understood in a non-judgmental environment. My journey to therapy It is a bit hard for me to even recall when I first considered becoming a therapist. I have simply always been the person whose heart was moved to help the people around me: babysitting, social activism, the humane society, listening to friends, and confusing my family.
