Hello, I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Iowa. I have enjoyed working with a wide variety of people and look forward to continuing to help people in their journey toward better health.

I have been a professional counselor for 9 years working with adults, teens, children, and families. I began my counseling career at a community mental health center and have worked in a private agency for the last 5 years. In that time I have also provided services in school and residential settings. I have had the privilege of working with a wide variety of individuals with an even wider range needs that includes: PTSD, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and ADHD/ADD. More important than the specific diagnosis though I believe it is important to understand the individual and their background. Each person has an individual story and set of life experiences that shape how they cope with the stressors they encounter, that is what I believe we work with in counseling.

My grounding philosophy in counseling is based in Adlerian Individual Psychology. Along with that overall approach I also integrate elements of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. The Adlerian approach to counseling focuses on the belief that the individual wants to get better, but that life experiences may have overwhelmed their belief that they are capable of becoming who they want to be. Support, encouragement, and safety are essential to aiding the individual in finding their own path forward.
