About
My life has been forever transformed by my own therapy as a client and continues to be shaped by assisting others to engage in their own therapeutic process. I was one of those people who would seek therapy and quickly become uncomfortable and not return. How wrong I was! I had to learn to sit with discomfort. It took a long time, but a little bit at a time I started to overcome my past and was shocked to realize it was actually possible to feel genuinely happy, good, positive… not that every moment is bliss. I understand that everything in life is a balance, but I cannot tell you how much I had truly lost hope or, more accurately, never had hope for a “good” life. Of course, I still have endless opportunities to continue to grow, but now I seek this growth because I enjoy the intrinsic benefits of such growth and I find it leads me to feel a sense of purpose in life….
Having realized what might be accomplished if a person has the right supports and motivations, I want to be of help to others as they work to develop the life they want and to achieve the goals they set….
Why counseling… change is simple, right? Well… not so quick. Change can sound so easy and simple. Some people are like, “If you don’t like it, just change”. My personal experience is that it can be anything but simple and it is never so straightforward. So I am here to help with this process, whether you're currently on a path through a meadow of flowers, up a steep mountain pass, or through a raging battle field… it can help to have someone walk for a time with you. Even when we don’t have a great change we need to make, sometimes just having the support, having someone to bounce ideas around with is just as important to living a healthy life.
My experiences over the past 11 years in the field have led me to offer particular support in the following areas: anxiety, depression, PTSD, panic attacks, trauma history, childhood abuse/neglect, relationship concerns/conflict, domestic violence,, autism/aspergers, life transitions and adjustments, generalized life stress, low self-esteem/self-worth, addiction (alcohol/drugs/behaviors), codependency, criminal thinking, past criminal histories (including a history of violent and drug related offenses).. I use multiple approaches that vary depending on the individual needs, personality, and preferences of the client.
The most important thing is that you are ready to begin to set some goals/explore what you would like support with and that you are ready to be actively involved in this process.
Be Well!
