About

Welcome! I am a licensed professional counselor in Tennessee with three years of experience. I have two cats and one dog, I love house plants and hiking, and I am a huge Doctor Who fan! I have worked with adults struggling with a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, panic disorders, minority stress, internalized stigma, gender dysphoria, and relationship struggles. Past clients have described me as down-to-earth, genuine, funny, nurturing, and compassionate. Currently, I work full-time as a Lecturer with the department of counseling and human services at ETSU. I'm also working towards a doctorate in counselor education and supervision. I am so grateful for the opportunity to work with folx through Find A Therapist!!

I would describe my style as authentic, warm, and collaborative. There tends to be a power dynamic that exists in the counseling relationship and it's important to me that we break down that power differential and work together. Besides, you know yourself better than anyone: you are the expert on you! I honor every individual's autonomy and ability to be self-directed. I aim to work for the good of every individual, both in sessions and through advocacy efforts outside of sessions. I keep my commitments and will be truthful with you.

I practice counseling from an integrative approach, with a foundation of person-centered and multicultural awareness. Person-centered allows me to have a strong focus on my relationship with each person. After all, if you don't click with and trust your therapist, it probably won't be a meaningful experience! Additionally, awareness of different cultures and the impact of pressures, stereotypes, oppression, and discrimination experienced are fundamental to multiculturalism. While person-centered and multicultural are my foundation, every client is unique! These approaches may not be a good fit for everyone, so I strive to pull from various methods to meet each individual's needs. I draw additional techniques from: CBT, Narrative therapy, Somatic, Internal Family Systems, Solution-Focused, Existentialism, and Social-Constructionism. Together, we will identify your goals for treatment and identify realistic steps that I can support you through in reaching your goals!

I look forward to getting to know you and helping you on your journey!
