Currently, I live in Virginia. However, I am a native New Yorker and have dual licensure to practice in Virginia as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and in New York as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I practice psychotherapy in my office in Richmond, Virginia and telehealth in both New York and Virginia.
Just like my personality, my theoretical approach is eclectic. Most often, I will use Psychoanalytic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Insight Oriented Psychotherapy to help people become aware of hidden meanings and patterns in behaviors and communication. I also use these therapies to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts and behaviors. To uncover current maladies, sometimes the past does needs to be explored. My approach helps clients to decompress burdensome symptoms through gaining heightened awareness. I provide practical therapeutic tools for daily living. This blend of Psychoanalytic, Cognitive Behavioral and Insight Oriented Therapy is an effective long-term treatment because gains are long lasting due to client self-discovery.
My experiences have taught me that therapy should be highly personalized. There should be a collaboration between both therapist and client; it should be an authentic and a beneficial experience. I treat each client like they are my only client, as preparation goes into each individual case. I also brainstorm with my clients to collaboratively guide the therapeutic process. As an optimist, which is a helpful character trait as psychotherapist it assists my clients by feeling positive regard, promotes growth and leads to personal transformation.
