Aloha! My name is Christina McLemore and I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Hawai'i. I grew up on the island of O'ahu, where I graduated from University of Hawai’i-Manoa with a B.A in Psychology and Argosy University-Hawaii with an M.A in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT). Since August 2016, I have been a full-time Behavioral Health Specialist (BHS) for the Department of Education (DOE). I provide support to eligible students who face challenges such as attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), depression, anxiety, and other emotional and behavioral disabilities using a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach.

From August 2017-May 2019, I had the honor of being Co-Advisor for a high school Genders and Sexualities Alliance (GSA) Club; a student-initiated, student-led club that met on a weekly basis to discuss issues related to the LGBTQ+ community and its allies. Prior to joining the DOE, I dedicated over 4.5 years to working with teen and adult victims/survivors of domestic violence and teen dating violence at a local, private, non-profit agency. I provided advocacy and case management services, as well as prevention education through presentations on healthy dating relationships and teen dating violence across our state's schools.

The experience I have gained over the last 10 years, working mainly in the trauma/crisis field has given me a humbling perspective on life's daily and unexpected challenges. I tend to approach life with an open-mind and open-heart, both full of curiosity. I'm a big fan of "putting myself in others' shoes" and trying to see and understand perspectives that may differ from my own. I encourage my clients to do the same. I consider myself to be relaxed yet professional in my approach, with a huge sprinkling of humor when appropriate. It is my hope that I can be a supportive light for you during some of life's darker times, and perhaps remind you of your own flame of strength and resiliency to keep you going on your journey.
