Hello! Thanks for choosing my profile. Allow me to provide you with some important information about my background. I'm a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in the state of North Carolina as well a National Certified Counselor (NCC). I received a M.S. degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from North Carolina A & T State University in 2016.
I have over 4 years counseling experience working in many community agencies as a therapist and a triage specialist. During my time as a counselor, I have provided individual, couple, and family counseling in a private practice via telehealth. I provided individual, group, and family counseling services to adult and geriatric patients living with addiction, mental illness, and/or neuro-cognitive disorders such as dementia within an inpatient hospital setting. I have also collaborated with other service providers to ensure patients’ and community safety by assessing patients who are in, or perceived to be, experiencing a psychological crisis within an emergency room setting.
I desire to provide counseling services to adults and families without regard to family composition, gender, marital status, race, religion, or sexual orientation. I aim to create an accepting and caring environment conducive to building a healthy therapeutic relationship. It is my goal to assist you through the counseling journey of forgiveness, self-acceptance, self-awareness, and self-love.
My overall theoretical approach to counseling is existential in nature. I believe when individuals become fully aware of “self”, they can recognize and reach their full potential in life. In addition, I incorporate techniques from cognitive behavior therapy, Gestalt therapy, person-centered therapy, reality therapy, and solution focused therapy into my sessions.
