Hi there, I'm Cheri! Hi, my name is Cheri Abbott and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in the Central Valley, working with California clients statewide via Telehealth. I work with adults and specialize in anxiety, stress, self-esteem, job, and life transitions, and peer and family relationship issues, using Client-Centered Therapy and Strength Based Therapy in an attempt to help clients increase trust within themselves to make sustainable changes. My approach to therapy is to build a strong healthy therapeutic relationship with each individual in an effort to help you find your inner strength. I utilize a Client-Centered approach to partner with you, creating trust and safety to feel seen and heard. I support your thoughts and feelings with understanding and genuineness so that you can express true emotions without fear of rejection. I help you identify your strengths, values, and beliefs to increase self-awareness and reach realistic goals, improving overall well-being. My approach is a good fit for adults who may be struggling with anxiety, worry, stress from work, stress around peer or family relationships, low self-esteem, imposter syndrome, or challenges with life transitions. My style of communication is to be observant, intuitive, compassionate, empathetic, and thoughtful. I utilize honest, safe, and nonjudgmental curiosity and feedback. I provide validation and insight to help clients achieve goals. My hope is that clients feel safe being vulnerable. My approach to goal setting is to partner with you to build a healthy therapeutic relationship and then establish what it is you need or want out of therapy. The goals are for YOU. My role is to guide you toward them. The first session is about getting to know you (the client) and gathering information to best support the healing process.
