About
Hello! I’m Chelsea and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist. I obtained a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science with an emphasis in psychology from Concordia University Irvine in 2013. I went on to earn a master’s degree in clinical psychology with an emphasis in marriage and family therapy from Azusa Pacific University in 2015. During graduate school, I worked as a behavioral interventionist providing Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapy to children with autism and related disorders between the ages of 1.5 to 13 years old. I completed my internship during graduate school at Community Research Foundation (CRF) New Vistas Crisis Center where I gained experience in crisis intervention and working with individuals experiencing acute psychiatric distress. Once I completed my master’s degree program, I went on to work at CRF Step Forward/CalWORKs for over 4 years providing individual and group counseling services to assist clients in reducing mental health barriers to obtaining and maintaining employment. During my time at CRF Step Forward, I had multiple roles in the program including being an individual/group therapist, conducting screenings for new clients who requested services, and assisting the director in managing administrative aspects of the program. I have also gained experience providing exposure response prevention (ERP) therapy to individuals struggling with obsessive-compulsive disorder. My experience includes working with clients who have experienced depression, anxiety, trauma, stress management, struggles with co-parenting, substance use, and acute psychiatric distress. I am authentic and genuine in my work with individuals, couples, and families as I believe it helps build a strong therapeutic relationship. My therapeutic orientations include Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I utilize SFT to assist individuals, couples, and families.
