About

Hello. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with 10 plus years experience. I decided to become a social worker when I found myself in the grips of drug addiction. I wanted to help people see that with the right tools, motivation, and support system that anything is possible. Since September 29, 2008, that is exactly what I have been doing. I went to West Virginia State University and received my Bachelors degree in Psychology in 2013. I completed my Masters in Social Work in 2016 from Concord University and I currently have my LICSW and ADC. I have worked in a wide variety of places. I work with clients affected by depression, anxiety, substance use, trauma and relationship challenges from individual, group and family work.

My approach to therapy is client centered: clients are the experts on their lives and determine the direction and depth of therapy. Through a strengths-based and solutions-focused lens, I draw on multiple treatment modalities to guide clients in identifying strengths and developing treatment plans that accomplish their goals. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I assist clients in exploring relationships among thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to aid in discovering dysfunctional thought patterns leading to self-destructive behaviors and beliefs.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my child, being on the lake, doing yoga, and being of service to people through Narcotics Anonymous. I am always interested in learning new tools that will help me along my journey and also help others. I truly believe that the only way we keep what we have is by giving it away. I was taught that when I first entered the rooms of NA, and it has stuck with me since then.

Remember when trying to work on yourself, the first step to it is seeking help. Often the hardest thing for a person to do is ask for help, but it is the most rewarding. Always know your worth and that others believe in you and are here to help.
