About

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist located in North Carolina. I have been practicing counseling for 9 years, working primarily with families across various settings. My experience has ranged from working in the home with families to working with them in a clinical setting, on military installations, and in schools. I began first working in the community with lower income, poverty stricken groups to gain understanding of these issues and how they affect the family system. Following this, I worked in the psychiatric hospital setting with individuals in acute levels of care as well as residential care. For the past 6 years, I have been working with families and individuals, counseling on and off military installations and in and out of educational facilities.

My approach to counseling and assisting others has been described as warm, empathetic, and person-centered. Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy are all modalities that I utilize to help clients achieve their goals and objectives. I have certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well, which has allowed me to utilize these techniques in assisting clients work through barriers to healing and empowerment.

I received my Bachelors Degree in Psychology from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and my Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from East Carolina University.

I have been with my husband for 11 years, and we have one daughter, and two (now senior) rescue dogs.
