I am Katie, a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) and Licensed independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC) with 9 years of experience providing talk therapy. I have a Master of Social Work degree from University of Cincinnati.
My approach to counseling is to focus on the foundations of wellness. These include sleep, diet, physical activity, and support system. Many symptoms can be tied to an imbalance in one of these areas. It is my belief that we all experience struggles and we all need support at times. I work to de-stigmatize seeking help.
I see my role as an accountability partner for building healthy habits, an educator sharing tools to increase resilience, and to provide a safe space to feel, process, be heard, and grow. I have experience working with individuals battling addiction, with a legal history, chronic illness, and experiencing homelessness.
I employ a variety of tools in session including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Assertive Communication, Acceptance, and Empowering my patients to be their best selves.
