About
You’ll often hear me say that “YOU are your own Best Expert”, and I really mean it! My approach is authentic, warm, accepting and strength-based. Creating a safe space for therapeutic work is of great importance to me. Along side of you, I will support you in the discovery of tools you already possess, some to be honed as well as identifying and learning new ones that will be added to your tool belt.
I will work with you to guide you to overcome self-limiting beliefs, break the cycle of depression, challenge anxious thoughts, address panic as well as obsessive thoughts and behaviors, navigate middle and aging adulthood, engage in healthier life decisions with confidence and begin to promote your view and inclusion of self-care as a nonnegotiable part of your life.
My professional educational background began with earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Social Work from Indiana University. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have worked in several capacities. My experience in mental health includes having been a Psychotherapist, Behavioral Health Specialist and Psychiatric Social Worker, working in the Emergency Department, Inpatient and Outpatient settings with both groups and individuals. I use an eclectic range of modalities for therapeutic work, some including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with DBT strategies; Motivational Interviewing; Humanistic and Psychodynamic approaches; Interpersonal Process, Insight-oriented, Narrative Therapy, expressive arts, and mindfulness. Using a variety of therapy modalities allows for treatment customized and organic for each individual based on feelings, issues and concerns identified in session.
If you’ve read to this point, I want to say, “Congratulations on moving a step closer to improving your quality of living by starting your journey to total wellness”! I look forward to joining your journey!
