Hello!
My name is Carolyn and I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Michigan where I have over 15 years experience working in the mental health field. I have experience working with a broad range of clinical and life issues. I also have experience working with anxiety, family/relationship conflicts, depression, grief, life transitions, and complex trauma/abuse.

I went into the field of mental health after personally experiencing the benefits and healing that derive from counseling. After the death of my sister, I sought help as I was struggling with grief and past abuse. I know firsthand that getting help can be very difficult. There is still so much stigma around having mental health issues, or just life issues, but I also know from experience how much life can change for the better when you find support and take steps towards healing and bettering yourself! So, kudos to you for being on this site looking for some help!

I believe in meeting you, as the client, where you are. This means I begin where you are and tailor the treatment approaches to your specific needs. Counseling, or therapy, is all about YOU!I use cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and solution focused methods. My goal in therapy is to provide you with the coping skills you need that will help you in your life and your specific needs.

As we get to know each other, we will establish some goals together: goals that fit your life and needs. I believe in honesty and putting you first. Having said that, I think you will find that I am very caring and compassionate. I grew up overseas and have experience in working with other cultures and enjoy the richness they provide.
