Carol Ciancutti is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York State and also holds a Master’s Degree in Human Development and Education. Her work with clients is very person-centered with the belief that each person comes to the table with their unique life experience. In her work with women, she aims to support their journey in building insight into their thoughts and feelings as well as developing trust in their choices and their intuition. Carol works with clients online or in person in Thrive’s Manhattan Office. Carol has worked with a variety of clients. She has specialized training in working with substance use disorders, domestic and sexual assault, as well as young adults and families. Carol uses an individual approach to choosing modalities. She often employs Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Narrative Therapy is one modality that Carol works with consistently. Through Narrative therapy, people can identify an alternative story of their lives, widens people’s views of self, and opens their minds to new ways of living that reflect a more accurate and healthy story. The most important aspect of her work is that she sees each client as an individual with a unique story. Through deep listening, engaged support, humor, and compassion, Carol strives to be an ally at every step to individuals as they cultivate their unique and individual choices and lives their lives more fully. A long-time advocate for women and women’s rights, Carol received an award from the renowned organization, Our Bodies Ourselves, as a Women’s Health Hero. She has extensive experience as a producer of social justice documentaries. She is currently shepherding a project on programs in Kenya that empower and educate women as well as another that explores ways to reduce violence against women.
