Hi! I’m Carmen. I’m a therapist, wife, mother, sister and worship leader. As a therapist, I am down to earth, genuinely care and I am all for keeping it real. I see my role as someone who is there to help my clients process things, consider new perspectives, provide support, encouragement and gently challenge them so that they could live lives that are more aligned with their values. In therapy, it’s also about goodness of fit. The relationship that a therapist builds with their client is so important, that research suggests that it is one of the main reasons why clients are able to make changes in their lives. Beyond a profession, this line of work is truly a calling. I love working with women who are in unhealthy relationships because they are usually at a turning point in their lives when they reach out for support. Being able to witness the transformation that takes place from the time they start therapy to the time they are ending, is so humbling. As a Latina, I understand that there are messages that get woven into our culture, which oftentimes keep women oppressed. We all have been through something in which we need to heal from. As someone who has experienced my own healing, I can attest to the fact that therapy is definitely a life-changing experience. As a trauma therapist, I know that trusting others is very hard, but it is through relationships that people heal.
