About
Hello and thank you for reaching out for support through Find A Therapist! My name is Carly Murillo, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 10 years of experiencing working in the Chicagoland area. I graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a specialty in School Social Work and Migration Studies. I have worked in the public school system, interned at an adult inpatient mental health hospital, and participated in bereavement support programs. I am educated and experienced with various cultural groups. I was drawn to social work because of my personal experiences growing up and into adulthood. I knew from an early age that I wanted to help others that experienced similar challenges as myself. I have worked with people struggling with mental health diagnoses, including Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, Depression and Anxiety, to name a few. I have supported individuals and families struggling with death, divorce and trauma. I have ample understanding and experience with social and interpersonal skills training. I have provided support and intervention strategies to parents struggling to manage their child's behavior and/or mental health symptoms.
As a therapist, my role in your journey is to be a sounding board for you; someone with whom you can share all of your personal thoughts and feelings, with no judgment and with utmost consideration for your well being. My hope for your experience is that you will have a clearer understanding about the personal situation that brought you to Find A Therapist. I would encourage you to find and use your personal strengths and any existing coping strategies in order to successfully manage and overcome your current situation. I know that the carrying the weight of a heavy load from your past may get too heavy to lift independently. I hope to support you through your past or current struggles, and/ or understand and prepare for any uncertainties you face in your future.
I also understand that life is not easy; interpersonal relationships, the stress of daily life and time management are just bits and pieces of what may lead us to seeking therapeutic support. Especially considering what the world is currently facing with the pandemic, it is easy for everything to seem bigger than what we can handle. Reaching out to support through the efficient use of technology can pave the way for clarity and personal growth.
I will allow you to take this therapy process wherever you need to that brings you peace and well being. My availability has opened up for the short term, allowing for solution focused techniques. I will check my messages periodically throughout the day, several days a week. I will plan to respond to your messages as soon as I am able by the end of each day. I appreciate your understanding if it takes a bit longer some days as I tend to other professional and personal responsibilities. Thank you for reading my biography, and please feel free to message me with any questions.
