My name is Carla (she/her) and I am a clinical social worker licensed in California with over 10 years of experience working as a medical social worker and psychotherapist. I obtained my MSW from USC and my BA from CSULB with a major in Women's Studies and a minor in Philosophy. I worked in schools, community mental health agencies and hospitals. I specialize in cognitive behavioral therapy related to children, transitional age youth, adults, people living with HIV/AIDS, gender/sexual identity, spousal/partner abuse, childhood and family trauma, and substance abuse. My interests in therapeutic work include, but are not limited to, intersectionality, multicultural studies, Asian American studies, feminist theory, LGBTQ affirmative therapy, positive psychology, and social work practice. I will work with you in identifying your goals and highlight steps you can take to reach them. My counseling style is compassionate and empowering. As a Filipina/Malaysian therapist, I want to take a look at all the systems in place that affect your emotional health and well-being. I firmly believe in starting where the client is and that you are the captain of your own ship. I am just here to help guide the way.
