Carl Brakman, LCSW, has a Bachelors Degree in psychology from the University of Illinois and a Master's Degree in Social Work from Jane Addams Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Illinois. Mr. Brakman has extensive experience evaluating and diagnosing and counseling individuals suffering from psychiatric and substance use disorders in hospital emergency departments. In this capacity he trained and worked with resident psychiatrists on the crisis intervention team. Mr. Brakman has experience as the owner and Clinical Director of a State of Illinois certified DUI facility where he provided court ordered education and treatment to individuals convicted of DUI's. This involved individual and group therapy. Mr. Brakman has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults in special education as a behavior therapist consultant to classroom teachers, support staff as well as providing direct interventions to students and counseling their families. In this capacity Mr. Brakman strove to bring a holistic understanding to the complex cognitive, behavioral, medical, and psychiatric diagnoses of these individuals. Mr. Brakman has developed a specific expertise over 25 years working with individuals on the Autism spectrum.
