My name is Candice Clark. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over ten years of experience in mental health and five years of experience as a therapist. I adhere to the 2005 American Counseling Association’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. Confidentiality is an essential component of the counseling relationship. Things discussed within the counseling session will be kept confidential. My approach to my clients is caring, compassionate, and unbiased. Often we all feel stuck in situations that are overwhelming and hard to cope with. Life can be challenging, and many twists and turns can be challenging to navigate and understand. I believe in self-determination and that each individual can change their mindsets and thoughts to cope with the difficult times they are going through. My primary theoretical orientation is Person-Centered Therapy. I feel that the basic concepts of this approach, which include, congruence, unconditional positive regard, and empathy, are similar to my personality characteristics. Utilizing my approach, my role in therapy is to assist patients with shifting from an external to an internal locus of evaluation, which helps the patient progress toward self-actualization. I also utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) modalities. CBT targets emotions by changing thoughts and behaviors that contribute to distressing emotions. Due to the vast nature of a patient’s problem or need, it is essential to maintain an eclectic therapeutic approach to best serve each patient. I look forward to working with you!
