About

My name is Candace N Taggart, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT; license # 126763). I am licensed to provide therapy in the state of California and look forward to connecting soon! My approach I take an eclectic stance in therapy, incorporating aspects of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), narrative therapy, brief psychodynamic, emotion-focused therapy (EFT), and person-centered therapy. My focus My specialty areas include trauma, borderline personality, anxiety, depression, adjustment difficulties, and grief. I often work with individuals who have survived sexual trauma, grew up in an abusive family dynamic, experience difficulties setting healthy boundaries in relationships, are adjusting to major changes in life, deal with emotion regulation difficulties, struggle with intrusive thoughts, find it difficult to connect/socialize with others, My communication style My communication style is adapted to client's needs. I naturally take a compassionate, warm, unconditional stance in the therapeutic relationship while keeping a semi-structured and boundary-oriented approach in session. As a client, you should feel accepted, welcomed, supported, heard, and safe. My goals for you I take a very collaborative stance on goal setting and believe goals should empower clients, and be both attainable and motivating. We will spend some time discussing baseline functioning and set a realistic goal. My first session with you During out first session, you will be able to share information about what is bringing you to therapy, what has prompted your interest in mental health services, and what you are hoping to address throughout your time in therapy. I will review points on confidentiality, limits thereof, informed consent, scheduling policy, and my licensure. We will complete a biopsychosocial assessment at which time you can share personal factors and relevant historical information.
