About

Hello! My name is Camille Canales, M.A., LMFT. I love to work with individuals on exploring what has impacted them in life leading them to become who they are today. I also love using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help individuals gain greater control of their thoughts. Lastly, I enjoy working with individuals on being present and feeling their emotions all the way through due to emotions having a large impact physiologically on the body. My approach To help individuals work through difficulties in life, I mainly use CBT to help them work through unhelpful thinking styles. I use Brainspotting to work through past trauma and to do somatic work of helping emotions/memories fully process through within the body. I use the Gottman Method to help couples better communicate and connect. I also use a lot of boundary setting to help individuals work through codependency, gain greater control in their lives, and decrease resentment/anger/depression due to a lack of boundaries. My focus I enjoy using play therapy with children. I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, and couples. I also desire to work more with individuals who struggle with PNES (psychogenic nonepileptic seizures) as well as individuals who have gastrointestinal issues due to trauma/emotional abuse. I'd also like to explore working with individuals who have fibromyalgia to see if Brainspotting can help diminish the pain they feel in their bodies. My communication style I value authentic and open communication in the room. I hope individuals feel comfortable and able to share whatever it is they wish to share in the therapy room with me. I appreciate direct communication for those who find they naturally are direct communicators. My journey to mental healthcare I chose to become a therapist because I love learning about psychology and through the learning I did in school, I noticed that I had a heart for couples.
