Over the course of my experience in the mental health field, I have worked with children, adolescents and adults on issues that include depression, anxiety, self-injurious behavior, conduct and behavioral issues, adjustment to life transitions, physical and sexual abuse, neglect, substance abuse, homelessness, marital issues, and family dysfunction. While I have experience providing individual counseling, group counseling, family counseling, and crisis intervention, this agreement is for individual counseling only. My approach to counseling involves a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (RBT). CBT is based around the idea that individuals’ feelings and behaviors are a result of their thoughts. RBT focuses on teaching individuals to explore their self-defeating thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors and replacing them with self-fulfilling alternatives. I also have training from the International Association of Trauma Professionals to incorporate trauma-informed care, as needed, into the counseling session.
