About
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Forensic Psychology and did my internship at a prison working with adult women who had been through traumatic experiences and domestic violence relationships. I completed my Masters of Science in Mental Health Counseling from NOVA Southeastern University. I started out my career working in substance use; I worked as a substance abuse counselor for adults in an in-patient facility on an Indian Reservation. From my time there I learned how many people are struggling with substances and that often times it is a way to cope with stress, traumatic life events and/or mental health. I spent the next few years switching gears to work with parents and family members with youth in the foster care system, Person In Need of Supervision and Juvenile Delinquent cases. I came away realizing that most parents are doing the best they can with what they have and want the best for their child(ren). The last few years have been spent doing private practice and training mental health professionals in different skill areas.
One thing I realized from working with all different types of individuals is that pain is pain. No one wants to feel in pain or feel suffering. Working together as a collaborative team in counseling you can feel a little less in pain and struggle a little less. There is hope to feel better!
I hope working with me you will see my warm nature and sincere presence creates and atmosphere for healing and growth. My work with diverse populations is guided by these principles and my energy is inviting to address difficult issues in a safe manner.
