About

Hello -- I am Brian Moore, a licensed psychologist and a ‘seasoned’ therapist having begun my work over 30 years ago. I have experience as a therapist with both individuals and groups. Some of my work has focused on individuals in crisis, individuals with substance abuse problems, and depressed individuals. My therapy work is exclusively online now -- an approach that can reach those who might not otherwise seek therapy. Online therapy is as effective as 'office' therapy in addressing a wide range of problems. I would not be online otherwise.

I am a "PhD" psychologist with all the training and education that comes with that. The foundation of my therapy approach is 'client-centered'. This means at the beginning I make a particular effort to fully understand your point of view. Having someone truly listen to you without being offered quick reassurances can be a relief. I won't make assumptions or force my ideas on you. I won't judge you.
At the end of our first session I will give you my impressions of how therapy might help. Together, we may discuss goals and a tentative plan.

During our sessions, we will talk about you--your thoughts, feelings, family, relationships, and dreams -- and what you want to gain from therapy. In between sessions, I often have clients keep a journal in between sessions that we can review together. I probably will encourage you to try some new things. I may give you assignments. I won't give you 'busy work' that doesn't have a clear purpose.

While there are no guarantees with therapy, my experience has taught me to be optimistic.

If you need to contact me between sessions, my goal is to respond within 24 hours. But the reality is I cannot *guarantee* that I will always respond that quickly, but my track record at being available is pretty good.

If you are in a crisis -- when you are emotionally overwhelmed, if you have lost touch with reality, when you are not safe — you must get immediate help. Call 988, tell a nearby trusted friend or other safe person, go to a hospital, etc. After you are safe, contact me. Even in the darkest times, we can and do get better.

I hope we are a good fit for each other, but you will decide that for yourself. You deserve a therapist that you trust.

That’s most of it, but not all. We'll work out more details as we go.
