About
I have served Families and Children for over 40 years.
I am a Clinical Child and Family Psychologist. I specialize in Children, Adolescents, and Families with Children.
While there are many Counselors available in the market today with master’s degrees, they do not have the advanced training in accurate diagnosis, testing, and treatment for many behavioral issues. Psychologists have a Doctors Degree with the most advanced training and experience in the field of Psychology: The Science of the Mind and Human Behavior. Psychologists have the expertise in providing accurate diagnosis, formulating the proper treatment plan, and providing the specific therapeutic approaches and techniques for each child’s situation.
Clinical Psychologists must complete a Residency – Internship in a Hospital setting similar to Medical Doctors for two years before they can offer services to the public. This assures the public that Psychologists have the training and experience in handling the most serious issues of Behavioral / Mental Health.
In addition to my education and training in Clinical Child Psychology, my work background is extensive with valuable experience in a variety of settings from inpatient Mental Health Hospitals, Schools, and the Legal System. I once served as Chief Psychologist for the Galveston County Juvenile Justice Department. I have been in Private Practice in my Friendswood Office since 1993.
I have been blessed with the ability to easily connect with children and teens. To excel in working with this population one must be able to relate to them on their level to understand how they feel and see the world. You must have this special appreciation for them to gain their trust and faith in you. Perhaps embracing the child within yourself.
I have often heard from parents remarking that their children have never been so comfortable and talked as much with any other therapist as they have with me. Many times, my clients have previous experience in working with another provider in the past. When I ask them the name of that person they cannot remember. I strive to make a significant difference for every child I see and leave them with a positive lasting impression they won’t forget.
So, I do have many repeat customers with children returning to see me years later. Although I do not see adults alone, I do see clients in their early 20’s who have seen me when they were 8 years old! Once a client always a client, I will still be there for them as they grow older. They can count on me.
I seek to empower children and teens to believe in themselves and use more effective coping strategies I teach to help them face their challenges. I support parents and yes even grandparent guardians to deliver the caring, structure, and strength to help their children effectively.
I feel I am truly blessed to be working with children and teens. This is definitely my passion. I am dedicated to make a difference in the lives of children and families.
I welcome an opportunity to serve you.
