About

Hello, my name is Brian Fernandez. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). My approach in therapy is focused on providing you with coping skills to help you manage stressors, while at the same time helping you identify changes you may want to make that enable you to lead a more genuine and fulfilling life. My areas of practice focus on depression, anxiety, grief, and interpersonal relationships. My approach While my approach in therapy tends to be eclectic, based on your specific needs, I root my approach on a combination of person-centered and cognitive behavior therapy. My focus By far the majority of clients I've worked with have been young adults struggling with anxiety and/or depression. I've also been privileged to have helped many people dealing with grief, as well as interpersonal relationships. My communication style During sessions my approach is to be fully present for my client, to listen and ask clarifying questions, to help clients identify specific issues, as well as explore changes that will improve my client's functioning. My journey to therapy My entire professional career has been devoted to the helping field. Working as a therapist allows me to not only continue in the helping field tradition but gives me the personal reward of seeing clients flourish and lead more fulfilling lives when they put in the work and complete their journey through therapy. My goals for you Therapy goals are ultimately set by my clients, and my role is to help my clients explore goal possibilities, given their specific affliction. My first session with you During the first session, clients can expect a general discussion of what's driving them to seek therapy, as well as their expectations. Clients will hear from me a general roadmap of the therapeutic journey, as well as an exploration of goals for the client.
