About

Hello and make yourself at home. I'm a dually-licensed clinical mental health counselor and addictions specialist in North Carolina. I have over 16 years' experience in university counseling center practice, predominantly with adult graduate-level learners. I'm fundamentally a mental health generalist (meaning: most people & clinical concerns) with niche specializations I've grown into over the years.

My therapy orientation tends to be humanistic-- although I'll utilize cognitive, brief psychodynamic, and even experiential psychotherapies as the moment may call for. I will have great interest in your own firsthand experience of the therapy, and how you respond within it. Those aspects inform the next developments, and so forth. I endeavor to craft positive, meaningful therapy experiences.

Past clients describe me being warm, attuned, and patient. I'll invite you to come as you are, and I'll offer sensitivity to your vulnerabilities and emotional pain. Permission to be yourself: emoting, cursing, not editing thoughts, etc. are welcomed. In our work together, I'll help facilitate your personal process-- in accessing difficult or hidden parts of yourself, conceptualizing problems or experiences in new ways, building empathy for yourself and others, and using creativity to solve dilemmas. At times, we might share a laugh.

I've practiced in North Carolina exclusively, working with thousands of individuals from all corners of the state. Differences can be obvious or invisible; culture can be conceptualized on societal, local, familial, or even individual levels. Who we are matters, as well as what we've experienced.

Humans tend to be growth-oriented, and being curious about therapy is a wonderful example of that! I wish you well in your therapy-seeking, personal growth, and contentment.
