Hello my name is Brenda L. Olivas-Caperton, currently a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) for the state of Texas and a Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LPCC) for the State of New Mexico. I have been practicing since 2008, working with ages 3 to geriatrics. My license with the State of New Mexico is currently in retirement status.
My education includes the following: The University of the Southwest, a private, Christian university is where I graduated with a Master of Science in Education with an emphasis in Mental Health Counseling in May of 2008. I also graduated with a Bachelor of Science with a major in Business Management and a minor in Criminal Justice in May of 2004 from the University of the Southwest. I also graduated with an Associate of Science with a major in Criminal Justice and a minor in Business Management in May of 2003 from New Mexico Junior College.
Specialty areas include Trauma Informed Care and Addictions. I completed specialized training in Trauma Informed Care, an evidenced based model with the Sanctuary Institute in Yonkers, New York. I also completed specialized training in the Matrix Model, an evidenced based model in Los Angeles, California. I am also certified as a key supervisor in the Matrix Model, being able to provide oversight ensuring fidelity to the model.
