About

Brandon Hunter, LPC in Wisconsin. I get to know my clients and understand the circumstances that it has taken to get to the current circumstances. Being able to relate, meet my clients where they are, and move toward workable solutions are ways I try to engage you to become a better you. My approach I have a cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) approach that includes solutions-focused behavioral therapy (less than 6 sessions) for short-term sessions. For longer-term sessions (more than 6 sessions) I use a combination of dietetical behavioral therapy (DBT) and CBT approaches. My focus I focus on career-related issues, men's issues, anxiety/depression, suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, and short-term crisis situations. Helping create abilities to get through current and future crises is my main area of practice. My communication style I am a direct, no-nonsense type of therapist. I will tell you exactly what is going on with a touch of validation to help you understand why you are going through the current situation. My journey to mental healthcare I used to be a correctional officer and police officer. I worked in several different types of county, federal, and state agencies. I saw how both men and women residents were being communicated with. I also saw the cruel nature of people with power. The long work hours made me want to help people more. My direct nature has always been there, but I grew to love to talk to people in a county jail. Learning how to communicate with people is an art, and consistently having to come up with things on the spot was something that helped me want to create these spaces for people. I create this by giving people the freedom to explore what they want to do with me. This helps them create the path they are going to have to walk. My goals for you I set up three short-term, three moderate-term (one month out), and two long-term goals for the client to begin to envision how they can create a road to where they wish to be
