Described by clients as down-to-earth and non-judgmental, Bonnie is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Board-Certified Telemental Health Counselor. Known for her optimism and sense of hope she has for all clients; she specializes in working with clients experiencing all types of anxiety. Bonnie considers herself a creative and humanistic therapist and depending on a client’s goals, will use a variety of frameworks, such as Client-Centered CBT or expressive art techniques. When working with children, Bonnie frequently invites parents/guardians within sessions to collaborate and build a strong support system for the child at therapy and at home. Bonnie has a special understanding for those in the military and those with autoimmune issues. As a child, she was a military “brat” and has been married to her career-military spouse for over thirty years. Additionally, being a “spoonie” herself, she has an affinity for working with clients challenged by autoimmune issues or chronic medical challenges and who are struggling with delayed diagnosis, feeling disempowerment, and frustrated with the medical community or family and friends who don’t seem to understand. Regardless of the approach she uses for therapy or the clients she works with, clients will typically find Bonnie’s style down-to-earth, humanistic, non-judgmental, and with a dash or two (or more) of laughter included. In her free time, Bonnie enjoys creating illustrations, greeting cards and pattern designs. She feeds homeless cats that wander onto her back porch and she loves building miniature dollhouses and rooms. She has to work hard at keeping her cat, Oliver, from climbing into the dollhouses or swatting the tiny pieces onto the floor.
